If the distinction hadn't already existed between "evolutionary" and "revolutionary," it would have to have been made based on my experience playing NCAA 2008 football on the Xbox360. Why would I pay hundreds to play on this instead of the PS2 again? Yuck.
The change between EA football options available on the N64 and PS1 compared to the games on the PS2 was an impressive one, scary ghoul-eyes excepted. Can't say we've taken another leap like that since then.
