Regarding the earlier problem with a cleric, it appears that half-elves cannot progress beyond level 5 in one class...that of cleric. So, I basically have a character who cannot get any better. Wonderful.
The message "Not enough experience" when trying to level up is completely unhelpful. It should say something that indicates the character cannot advance.
