Again in the wealthy area north of main Phlan, I was searching buildings. At location (4,15), facing south into a wall, if you try to go south again, the game locks up with "LOADING...PLEASE WAIT" displaying at the bottom of the screen very rapidly.
I have not found a way to recover, so you have to quit completely and load from last save. Nasty.
